German Food and Beer Dinner with Gilde + F&B Social Club

Our friends from Food & Beverage Social Club welcomed us to attend a traditional German meal, with Gilde’s staff guiding us through the origins of each of the courses along with the history behind the brewery and the beer.

The F&B Social Club does really unique events each month where they organize a food and drink pairing at a sought after restaurant that includes a behind-the-scenes look into the history of the chefs, cuisine, restaurant and the beer, wine or cocktails being served at each meal.

The atmosphere of this event was incredible. We all shared large plates, family style, from long tables and benches which was reminiscent of our past German explorations. Check them out for a listing of future events, you won’t be disappointed, as we certainly weren’t from the 5 course meal below:

Course one included currywurst, German potato salad, veil meatballs frites and a traditional pretzel. I tereid the Gilde Pale Wheat with this course, which was a tasty Hefeweizen, available in cans and perfect for tailgates.

Course two was highlighted by traditional brats along with The Miner which was a delightfully full-bodied Schwarzbier, at 5% abv, this was a tasty beer that didn’t pack too big of a punch.

Course three included meatballs, spaetzle, and bread dumplings made from the leftover pretzel dough.

Course four included Mecklenburg pork along with a quiche. Pictured halfway through as it was too good not to dive right in.

Course 5 was an apple strudel with layers of wonderful filo dough and a decadent Bavarian creme. I would highly recommend both desserts and paired them with the Broyhan’s Bock, a weizenbock that was full bodied and complimented the flavorful desserts quite nicely.

We had a great first impression of Gilde and really think the folks at F&B Social Club organized a tasty and enlightening dining experience. Check out both of them the next time you’re looking for a unique and delicious way to spend an afternoon or evening:
